Jonas Rathsman - W4W

Sweden's Jonas Rathsman is best known for his track "Tobago" that was released in late 2011.

The label he released the track on, FRENCH EXPRESS, is sponsoring Rathsman again and giving away for free his new track W4W.  W4W is short for Women 4 Weapons. I really don't understand why they would do that. I think the track is amazing and would be profitable, but hey, who am I to complain about free music?

Miguel Campbell - Rockin' Beats

I have been lamenting quite a bit about the "Hot Creations effect" meaning that a lot of more underground DJs are starting to all sound the same, but I was actually surprised by this latest EP from Miguel Campbell (of Something Special [Sexy, Wonderful] fame), especially since it actually comes from Hot Creations. While the second track is more typical in the Hot Creations sound, the title track is pretty atypical. Its more robotic and groovy. I really like it! Check out the remix from Shadow Child (Dave Spoon) as well!

Campbell has another track called Beams of Light that is also off of Hot Creations and also pretty nifty. When I fing a link I will post it here!

Adam Port - Cabin Fever Trax

Adam Port, whose biggest release as of late for me was "Sally" http://jackhadagroove.blogspot.ca/2012/04/adam-port-sally.html contributes a 2 records to the Cabin Fever Trax on the Rekids label. Armed with a tribal meets latin flair, the tracks will keep you grooving for a while.

Groove Armada - Pull Up (West Norwood Cassette Library Remix)

The Groove Armada boys have released yet another EP with Hypercolour (this being the first: http://jackhadagroove.blogspot.ca/2012/04/groove-armada-no-knock-ep.html) and this time, the tracks are feisty!
This particular remix of the reggae-infused "Pull Up" really caught my ear. Can't seem to find a clip longer than this one but its enough for you to hear its awesomeness!

The track really reminds me of Basement Jaxx's "Jump and Shout." Well makes sense, since Slarta John appears on both records! Oddly enough, for a long time, I used to get Basement Jaxx and Groove Armada mixed up.

Pig & Dan - Let the Show Begin

Apparently Igor Tchkotoua (aka Pig) and Dan Duncan met on a plane to Spain, and the partnership lasted ever since. They've been in the production game for awhile, releasing on Cocoon and Soma. What I want to know is where do you get a nickname like Pig?! And why does it stick to the point you want to be referred as Pig?
Their latest comes off of John Digweed's Bedrock Records. Its a 2 track release with "Let the Show Begin" and "Emotions."

Another Pig & Dan release which I am really enjoying is off Coyu's Suara. The label head remixes the track, bringing it some serious dark techno vibes.

Syron - Breaking (Tom Flynn Remix)

Hot off the heels of his Dirtybird EP, Tom Flynn has remixed Syron's track "Breaking." I didn't share the EP earlier cause I feel like I post a lot about Tom Flynn, but its truly because I believe in his talent, and you should too.
Syron is an extremely talented young artist from the UK. Some of her notable tracks include providing vocals for Rudimental's "Spoons" and Solo's "Home is Where it Hurts" http://jackhadagroove.blogspot.ca/2012/05/solo-ft-syron-home-is-where-it-hurts.html. Her latest single Breaking is out on Black Butter Records (home to Rudimental).

Tom Flynn just has this ability to make tracks really special in a unique way. He's definitely caught the eye of one Pete Tong, so hopefully the Radio 1 don helps catapult Tom's career.

Krystal Klear - More Attention

With all the brouhaha that has surrounded dance music, I can't help but think of this. The old school is so loved by new producers, but sometimes it seems to the point that they are trying to emulate them, almost by copying them. I understand the idiom "to channel a sound" but as of late, it just feels like there is EDM, and then there is the underground that hates EDM, but is just trying to sound old school, which ends up all sounding the same. The new and fresh sounds of dance music seem to be few and far between. I personally find myself leaning towards more techno artists, and seeking a harder sound.
Overall, I do think that as EDM will die down, Soul/R&B will take its place. Acts like Frank Ocean, The Weeknd, and Miguel are causing pandemonium among the youth.
For Dec Lennon aka Krystal Klear, who is a Red Bull Music Academy alumni, he definitely enjoys the urban sound if his SoundCloud is any testament to his work. But his latest track featuring the vocals of Jenna G, "More Attention" seem to want to capture the MURK sound (much more than Duke Dumont's The Giver, which is what Tiga alluded to on the Turbo SoundCloud page).


I actually prefer the B-side "My Love is Burning" because I find it has its own character. Both tracks are great, don't get me wrong. I just hope that young producers try to sound different. Maybe its the generational gap, and they think people of their generation don't know the old school sound. But with the internet, its not hard to go and discover music from every generation. Its important to carve your own sound. I can put so many of these new producers in one basket, and you couldn't tell who made what because its all sounding the same (I call it the Hot Creations effect).

Timo Graf feat Dacia Bridges - Other Side (J Paul Getto Remix)

This is the weirdest remix I've ever seen. I say weird because Timo Graf is a relatively unknown German artist, but somehow Tony and Maurice of J Paul Getto http://jackhadagroove.blogspot.ca/2012/04/j-paul-getto.html got their hands on this track and made an amazing remix. I'm guessing the track is signed to Milk & Sugar, and so that's how they got a hold of it.  I don't even want to know what the original sounds like!
These guys know disco house, and know how to turn a track inside out. Strap on your dancing shoes and listen to this:

Jeremy Olander - The Rose Law/ Rorschach

Not sure what this EP is going to be called yet, but such a banger these tunes are! Frequent PR(Y)DA friends collaborator Jeremy Olander releases his latest on Mark Brown's CR2 Records.
These tunes are really reminiscent of old Sasha & Digweed for me. A time when they were residents at London's Renaissance, or brought people to their feet in NYC's Twilo. The legendary stories of Sasha in Ibiza may be folklore, but if you scour the internet for older tracks from the duo, you can believe them.

Blawan - His He She & She EP

After creating a buzz around his track "Why They Hide Their Bodies Under My Garage" http://jackhadagroove.blogspot.ca/2012/05/blawan-why-they-hide-their-bodies-under.html which he showcased during his Boiler Room set, a full EP including the record has hit the stands. The EP is being released on Joy Orbison and Will Bankhead's Hinge Finger label. Jamie Roberts doesn't strike me as the very social type (he doesn't have a SoundCloud!) so I couldn't get a nice link to let you hear the other tracks.
