Benjamin Pettit (DJ Zinc) and Alain Macklovitch (DJ A-Trak) teamed up earlier this year to give you the track Stingray. Something about the horn reminded me of an old trance track that I just can't put my finger on...but I digress. The track was remixed by Benga too.
They have since revamped the track and added the vocals of dancehall gyal Natalie Storm, and have called the track "Like the Dancefloor."
I was not totally on board with the change until I heard Simon Neale's aka Shadow Child's take on the track. Can you say banger?! Slowing the track down the way he does matches Natalie's vocals much better, and the addition of that UK bass is just what the doctor ordered!

Once again, I'm connected to Defected!
The very handsome Rampa (oh come on, he is! I said this blog before that it was written by a female!) of Keinemusik has contributed to the Defected label with a track that is graced with Meggy's vocals (she's a German DJ too).
Not sure what happens in the Argy remix, where the vocals are suddenly sung by a male. I actually prefer this version the most! Rampa adds his own remix and Mark Fanciulli rounds up the remix list.
Rampa teamed up with Re.You earlier in the month to give another track, also featuring Meggy.
Absolutely loving this new one coming out of the Defected camp. A true 90s throwback with a modern update comes from Germany's Marco Niemerski, aka Tensnake. Best known in my opinion for his track "Coma Cat"the producer teams up with the UK's young rising star Syron to give you "Mainline"

Update 26/10/12: An astute YouTube user pointed out that the track samples Black Ivory's "Mainline" which was also sampled by The Jason Load Experience feat. Iyona with their track "Mainline 90s." This one closely resembles Tensnake's version. Check out the video for the track released by Defected:
The long awaited album from Max Vangeli and AN21 has finally been released. Lots of mixed reviews coming out, but I think these guys deserve more credit. Its easy to attribute their exposure to the fact that AN21 is Steve Angello's brother, but that really detracts from the fact these guys make pretty good productions. I absolutely love Max & AN21's remix of Ellie Goulding's Starry Eyed and Prodigy's Smack My Bitch Up.
The album is chalked full of collaborations. On the title track, they join hands with Tiesto.
Congorock most famously was introduced to the clan with his remix of SHM's One. He collaborated with the duo for Lost:
So when I first heard this track, I really didn't understand the title. Why bombs over capitals? Is this about war? I don't think so...anyway, the boys enlist the amazing vocals of Julie McKnight for this one. She was once married to Soul/R&B artist Brian McKnight, and has appeared on such tracks as Finally, Diamond Life, and David Guetta's "How Soon is Now." She is amazing, and does the track justice. The track "Fresh Start" seems to be missing from their SoundCloud, and the track Whisper is posted twice. I think it was just an oversight.
I really like this one. Its probably my favorite from the album. Its not a big room anthem, but more of a night closer. They previewed the track more than a year ago, and have since made some adjustments. I will admit I liked the original better but its still an awesome, haunting track. Features the vocals of MC/rapper/lyricist Example.
Moguai's big burst onto the scene was with his Fatboy Slim Remix of "Push the Tempo." He contributes to the synth heavy "Brunette"
Kim Fai is no stranger to SIZE, having released Era/Supernova on the label. He joins the boys on "Story"
This one features Rudy Sandapa, the Australian vocalist who also goes by the moniker Ruben Haze and frequently collaborates with fellow Aussie Dirty South. Gone are the days of Hacienda, Twilo, Renaissance but the music can definitely live on. John Digweed teams up with Nick Muir to release "Raise" off of his own label, Bedrock. This is the music that I call progressive house. A lot of electro house tracks get labelled progressive and I really think its only because it sounds cool.
Anyway, included on the release are a Purple and Blue remix by Electric Rescue. Sit back and transport yourself back to the 90s...
I really love the 2 Bears http://jackhadagroove.blogspot.ca/2012/06/disclosure-control-joe-goddard-remix.html, and I really love Defected Records, so this is like a match made in heaven for me. A choice selection of house tracks from 2 guys who know how to make choice house themselves. I have a special place in my heart for that Iz & Diz track.
Ah yes, its yet another awesome Hypercolour release! Chicago's Amir Alexander is the latest to contribute. The Acid mix of the title track is the one for me.
I'm really rooting for Nari & Milani. I saw an interview that Steve Angello's SIZE did with them and they just seem like good guys from Italy who have been in the business a long time and were exposed to a new audience when Angello's label picked up Kendo and Atom http://jackhadagroove.blogspot.ca/2012/04/nari-milani-atom.html. They were so apologetic for their broken English in their interview, and were really happy-go-lucky guys, I am definitely a new fan! Their remix of Brohammer is in the same vein as Atom, with extremely hard hitting beats.
I guess "Bro" and "hammer" make this the perfect song title for the track!
The Greek producer's latest effort "Love & Dance" is forthcoming on Noir's esteemed compilation Second Chances and New Romances, on its 5th edition. If you can remember Argy's remix of Osunlade's Envision http://jackhadagroove.blogspot.ca/2012/04/osunlade-envision.html, then you know that the guy has some tricks up his sleeve. One of those "tricks" seems to be sampling Gilette's Short Dick Man and infusing it into bonafide house tracks. You can hear the repetitive "don't want don't want don't want" in the background.
So I found this track after scanning the Beatport Top 100. What I want to know is, what would compell someone to call themselves DJ PP? I mean, really! Nevertheless, Uruguay's Gabriel Rocha has a pretty good Tech House track on his hands, and its available on Mark Knight's Toolroom Records.
