Its no secret that a lot of electronic music producers are nerds. I don't mean nerd in any pejorative way. They are smart and tech savvy and know their way around ever evolving computer software and hardware. So it comes as no surprise that these Swedish producers use the XBox360 game Forza Horizon for inspiration to music making. Not to mention, I've always agreed that electronic music and driving go hand in hand http://jackhadagroove.blogspot.ca/2012/05/road-trip-mix.html. The energy of the music makes you want to speed down a highway (well, it does for me. So far I'm police ticket free)!

Nero - Won't You (Club Cheval Remix)
UK dubstep duo Nero gave their new single "Won't You" from their upcoming album for free.
But its the remix package that is really getting me excited. France's Club Cheval have given the track their Acid take, and it is incredible! The "group" consists of Sam Tiba, Panteros666, Myd and Canblaster. This remix even has the sound of a horse "neighing" in the background! Haha! Excellent remix!

Eats Everything - Vertigo
This past summer, I was fortunate enough to meet Justin Martin and see him alongside Claude Von Stroke and Nick Monaco for their Dirtybird BBQ in my hometown of Montreal. Missing from the original billing was Bristol based Eats Everything. I was so sad he wasn't coming (turns out he had back issues). He keeps putting out great releases http://jackhadagroove.blogspot.ca/2012/05/eats-everything-jagged-elbow-ep.html, and his latest comes from the ever-growing-in-popularity label Dirtybird.
Jeremy Olander - Norrsken
Mark Knight's Toolroom is putting out a compilation just in time for the Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE). Included in this compilation will be Sweden's Jeremy Olander's track Norrsken (which when I googled it was the name of a Swedish rock band and piece of IKEA furniture haha!). Hot off of his new EP http://jackhadagroove.blogspot.ca/2012/09/jeremy-olander-rose-law-rorschach.html, Olander continues to make true progressive house and I absolutely adore it!
Fun fact: he has another moniker called Dhillon which comes from his part-Indian heritage

Ben Pearce - What I Might Do
Chase & Status' label MTA has a new kid on the block. Ben Pearce's new track "What I Might Do" samples the smooth vocals of Anthony Hamilton from "Cornbread, Fish and Collard Greens". The track will also be released on Under The Shade, and remixes are from MTA regular Harry Wolfman, Adam Shelton, and Bonar Bradberry of PBR Streetgang.

Daniel Avery - Drone Logic
Daniel Avery (who also went by the alias Stopmakingme) has a new EP called Water Jump forthcoming on Phantasy Sound. One of the 4-track EP is Drone Logic.
When I heard it, it reminded me of Underworld's Rez, which can't ever be a bad thing! I tried to make this whole hashtag thing stick at the beginning of the year, and needless to say it didn't, but the hastag was #restorationofhouse. Throughout 2012, there is no doubt that people are going back to the roots of electronic dance music and rejuvenating the sound.

Avicii - EDOM
Just today I was listening to my iPod (yes I still use one of those. And mine is a really old one, with the track wheel!), and Steve Angello & Sebastian Ingrosso's track "Partouze" came on. If you are unfamiliar with the track, its got this great violin sound. I remember in the earlier days of Twitter (2009), these guys would always tweet about their partying and declare "Partouze" like it was a verb describing debauchery.
Anyways, as I was listening to the violin, it reminded me of Otto Knows' remix of BURNS' Lies. When I heard a snippet of that track, I dismissed it immediately because I only heard the synthy portion. But one day I heard the track in its entirety and loved the use of the violin. I couldn't help but think that Otto Knows (Otto Jettmann) has probably been influenced by the SHM boys, given that he too is from Sweden, and has gone on to release "Million Voices" on Ingrosso's Refune label.
I swear, all of this happened today! I later stumbled upon Avicii's new track, EDOM, which he has apparently been playing lately in his sets. I can't help but wonder what EDOM means, as it looks like the acronym EDM. Could it be Electronic Dance-Opera Music? Ok, probably a poor theory, but the use of the violins again makes it really orchestral. I even checked Google Translate to make sure it wasn't a Swedish word! Swede Tim Bergling has said many times that SHM has been a heavy influence on him, so I wonder if he, like me, is a big fan of Partouze. Whatever the inspiration for the new track, its pretty good, and I can see it is going to be well received by his fans.
Update 10/10/12: Ash, Avicii's manager, confirmed to me on Twitter that EDOM is just MODE backwards. So much for my theory! Haha!

Fire Flowerz - Vision
Italian duo Fire Flowerz consists of Luca D'Angelo (Freon) and Matteo Soru (Yoru). Having dipped themselves into the world of EDM, their latest is all about the French touch, which they know how to do so well.
Paolo Mojo - Give It Away
The UK's Paolo Mojo has been in the dance scene for quite awhile now. I do think with the emergence of dance music in the form of EDM, the parallel scene that is anti-EDM is also being dominated by the younger crew, digging up the oldies and modifying them and trying to re-create the old school sound under their banner.
I was really impressed to hear "Give It Away" because it just shows that the more mature players in the scene still got their mojo (I'm sorry, I'm a sucker for bad puns). You could easily put this track in a Hot Creations/Crosstown Rebels/Hypercolour/Exploited EP and you wouldn't know it comes from the mind of a veteran.

Oliver $ and Sqim - Hoes
Made to Play regular Oliver $ teams up with Berlin-based Sqim for their take on a DJ Slugo classic. "Hoes" is a version of Slugo's juke track "Wouldn't You Like To Be A Ho Too".
