Sander Van Doorn & Mark Knight vs Underworld - Ten

To mark the tenth anniversary of Toolroom, Mark Knight joins forces with Dutch producer Sander Van Doorn (Laidback Luke's doppelganger) and the iconic duo of Underworld. For the new kids on the block, you may have heard the musical stylings of Underworld during the London Olympic games Opening Ceremonies. What a way to highlight how important electronic music is to the UK music scene!
I really love NYC and so its great to see this video set in good ol' Brooklyn (hipster Williamsburg to be exact - you can tell by the train being used!).

When I was young, I always thought I'd grow up to go through some bodega (well, in Montreal they are called depanneurs) and go through a secret door to an underground club, much like the one in the video. Pssh, I couldn't even get into Crif Dogs secret bar Please Don't Tell so I guess that'll never actually come true haha!
A lot of people are comparing the track to Faithless but you can tell this isn't a Maxi Jazz narrative but rather its Underworld's Karl Hyde. Mark Knight collaborated with D.Ramirez in 2009 for "Downpipe" which also featured Hyde.

Fun fact: Darren Emerson was part of Underworld in their heyday (~1990-2000), and was once married to Amy Thomson, who is the manager of Swedish House Mafia.

An earlier release from Toolroom that also deserves a listen is the Mark Knight remix of Leeds-based dubstep outfit Submotion Orchestra. The vocals of Ruby Wood give the track something special. The 7-piece group is also definitely worth exploring if you are a fan of UK style dubstep. The remix is being supported by the likes of Frankie Knuckles, which puts a stamp on this track being classic house approved!
