Franco De Mulero - Still My Thing (Supernova Remix)

Italian duo Supernova, who are Emiliano Nencioni and Giacomo Godi, lend their remixing hands to Franco De Mulero's "Still My Thing" and have released the track on their label Lapsus. Something for your dark tech house mainroom!

ElectroBlog

With my blog being no exception, the emergence of people who believe they are in the know when it comes to dance music has become something of a caricature. I have said before that the reason I started is because I saw strange exchanges on social media and wanted to cover them, I wanted to vent frustrations, and if I actually had people reading my blog, then recommend music that I was currently enjoying.

Definitely this surge of new electronic music blogs comes from trying to socialize with DJs and producers, perhaps hoping to partake in the glamourous life that has become synonymous with the DJ lifestyle. Don't get me wrong, there are some quality blogs out there, but there are some bad ones too so beware!

While DJ tweefs and wars are pretty comical in themselves, what is even more sad is people who blog about DJs getting into wars too!
First I want to talk about EDM Snob. Once again, with my total lack of promptness in completing my posts when I want to, in the interim, this blog has somewhat disbanded. What I initially was going to address was the way this blog was going to reveal how DJ Mag was being paid to rank DJs higher in their poll. The best response to that was the last comment on this Resident Advisor post: http://www.residentadvisor.net/feed-item.aspx?id=50984 Yup! My sentiments exactly. After going through the blog's posts, I could tell this "anonymous" person behind the blog was young, because his knowledge of dance music was far too recent. But it irked me the way he wanted to hold DJ Mag in contempt, and try to discredit a long standing magazine that despite its perhaps nowadays meaningless poll contributed to the spread of dance music and knowledge to so many. A complete lack of respect for dance music as an institution and those who contributed to its success.
The Snob then claimed that he was going to reveal the dates of SHM's One Last Tour before they did. For one, it was a strange claim because the whole promotional campaign was showing exactly where they were going through posting landmarks on their website, and all you had to do was decipher that the Eiffel tower was in France, etc. Anyway, this highly aggravated SHM manager Amy Thompson, who expressed her displeasure on the SHM Facebook page. Oh the drama!
Well, fast-forward to this week, and the founder of the "EDM wikileaks" decided to reveal himself because people were supposedly losing their jobs because of him. All I can say is, these new kids on the block are way too self righteous and its disturbing. That whole "PLUR" catchphrase of dance music seems to have either skipped a generation or is lost on drugs. He even tried to pass off what he was doing as passion for the scene, but anyone with passion won't go and discredit people (ahem, DJ Sneak, ahem).
Side note: also funny, this week the "EDM Snob" declared Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs as the second coming, and that he said it first...really, I was in school full time 2 years ago and even I heard of T.E.E.D before yesterday. Yeesh, where does the credibility in the word snob come from?!

In the midst of trying to figure out who EDM Snob was, another blog, EDM insider, decided to do some investigative journalism and called out Biz Martinez, a talent buyer at mega-club LIV in Miami, as the EDM Snob http://www.edminsider.com/exclusive-edm-snob-exposed/. I was not totally convinced by the article for the simple reason that if you have been to LIV, it is one of the most self-appointed pretentious clubs in America, and so its actual snobbish ways could no way be linked to the faux-snob of Mr. Wikileaks. But seriously, how sad! This week, after the snob revealed himself, Martinez took to Twitter to state that anyone who thought it was him does not know how much work he put into the scene. Well, good for him I suppose. I still think LIV is pretty ridiculous, but that is a digression.

To add insult to injury, the "editor" of EDM Snob, Kat Bein, wrote an article in some Miami paper about EDM being the wimpiest youth movement, and then claimed it was satirical. What on earth is the point, and why aren't these kids in school? She since removed the article, probably because of the overwhelming response of kandi kids taking offence. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Oh, and the "piece de resistance" is of course Dancing Astronaut, which I have expressed disdain for in the past http://jackhadagroove.blogspot.ca/2012/06/rant-on-part-2.html. I feel bad cause I know they do have some writers that actually try to do research and not come off as totally pompous, but when the face of the blog appears to 1) be completely arrogant and pompous 2) takes a lot of the credit even though its not his to take I just feel the need to show what I'm talking about.

Aside from writing that dumb editorial that he keeps referring to (the one about dance music going mainstream but not having to sell out), Jacob Schulman has taken on an arrogance that is beyond reproach. First off, he is the editor-in-chief, not founder (or CEO, though I don't get why a blog needs a CEO) of Dancing Astro. That title belongs to one Senthil Chidambaram.

Kia Makarechi of the Huffington Post interviewed Steve Angello, and Schulman along with another DA writer decided to call the article poorly written and presented their "interpretation" of the article. I mean, are you kidding me? MTV EDM journalist Adam Stewart saw this blatant display of ego and called Schulman out, saying not to get too tired from patting himself on the back. Ha!

Then the whole mess with EDM Snob and SHM came out. Schulman said on Twitter
Ew! What could be more sad than being a poor man's Dancing Astronaut? Then when EDM Snob has his "big reveal" he stated
Yes, I had to reach for a bag to yak in, cause I could not believe my eyes.
Well, fine. Some kid thinks Dancing Astro is the best. No one gets hurt. But seriously, what the heck? I've read different articles saying that it is America's fault for the EDM phenomenon, and that they are killing dance music. I don't agree with those statements but when this is the supposed biggest dance blog in America, I can understand people's frustrations.
Steve Angello played Pacha NYC after his SIZE in the Park gig, and decided he was going to spin more "underground" tracks. He apparently told people they weren't going to recognize the music, and then Schulman triumphantly stated he identified Tensnake's Coma Cat. Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't Coma Cat one of the biggest tracks of 2010?
I know why Beat My Day is not as popular: its based in Europe, tucked away from the EDM phenomenon. Its headed by a Swede named Anton, but gets submissions from other parts of the world. It has its share of EDM posts, but it also goes well beyond that too. I'm always so disheartened when I see Dancing Astro blatantly copy posts by Beat My Day literally minutes after they post and get the credit for it. Schulman and DA were named as the most influential EDM blog by Billboard. Ugh... Schulman was also invited to speak on panel that included Astralwerks and Junior Sanchez for an EDM roundtable. I mean, c'mon!

Most disturbing is how many DJs respect Schulman. Amy Thomspon even likes the kid, despite his scathing editorial being about SHM. Anyway, Schulman meleed himself into a conversation between Sebastian Ingrosso, Tommy Trash and Afrojack concerning SI & TT's new track Reload:

And then privately tweeted
I'm gonna call that borderline racist.
Chidambaram also weighed in

So I guess Beat My Day hit a nerve. Good thing too, considering they pretty much never intervene when DA steals their posts.
I added Senthil's other tweet in there to demonstrate that complete lack of knowledge this "dance music" blog has. Sure, trap music origins are from hip hop, but if you say guys like Hudson Mohawke, Lunice, Bauuer, Diplo etc are not making dance music then there is clearly something wrong.

If you need to write a disclaimer about yourself, then maybe its time you check yourself before you wreck yourself (always wanted to say that haha!)

I've been telling myself, don't start sounding like a hipster with the whole "I knew about this before it was cool" and I try hard to defend the likes of Guetta and SHM and whomever else has become commercial as a product of their underground success, but what I never anticipated was the brash generation of clubbers that emerged alongside them.

Maybe I just have a case of sour grapes. But believe me, trying to keep this blog going takes too much out of me, so this truly is not blog envy. I will never say that the once underground culture of electronic music gone commercial is a bad thing. I've seen so many of my heros make it big, I've seen the underbelly of producers working even harder, making quality music. But there needs to be less negativity. That is one part of dance music's success I'm still not used to. And I don't mean to be perpetuating more negativity by hating on these blogs. Just want them to take a step back and embrace the music, do the research, lose the egos, and embrace the people in the industry that make it all come together...too much to ask?

Swedish House Mafia - One Last Tour

It is with so much emotion that I write this post. I have some really cool underground DJs that follow me on Twitter, and when I go into my whole SHM love-ins through my tweets, sometimes I wonder if they will unfollow me. But the truth of the matter is, Steve, Seb and Ax all emerged from the underground. And after reaching new heights in the last 3 years, they are allowed to want to go separate ways and try something new.

The trio spoke to Rolling Stone magazine before their performance at the cancer benefit show held by iHeart Radio, and basically stated they just want to see what happens as separate entities. More power to them! http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/swedish-house-mafia-on-whats-next-20120922
Last week, the boys announced that they would reveal the dates for their last tour. I remember being so gutted that they were going to perform together at Madison Square Garden months after I had moved out of NYC and back to my hometown of Montreal, so I was nothing short of elated when it was announced they would be coming to our local entertainment venue. I got my ticket today, and now have to wait in anticipation of 5 months to see them in February.
If the show is anything like Milton Keyes Bowl, which is featured in the video for "Don't You Worry Child" then I know the wait will be worth it.

DJ vs DJane: is this even a real word?

So I've been seeing this word more and more, and I thought I would address these articles that were sitting in my draft box at the same time: DJane. I know its not a new word, but I'm seeing more and more female DJs refer to themselves as DJanes and I thought it was weird. I feel its like calling a female lawyer a "lawyera" or something bizarro like that. Mostly, I find it divisive. In the field of engineering, especially in the 90s, men dominated the field, and it was thought that women were more "intimidated" by technology. In the last 3 decades, that has clearly changed, but I think the same thing can be said about DJing. A lot fewer females were in the game back in the day, but now more women are stepping up to the plate, learning the DJ tech gear and producing too. But why would you call yourself "DJane"? Unless there is something feminine about the way you are spinning, then I don't get why. I think that this is why I was so up in arms about Paris Hilton's (thankfully, failed) attempt at DJing http://jackhadagroove.blogspot.ca/2012/05/paris-hilton-as-dj.html and http://jackhadagroove.blogspot.ca/2012/06/rant-on-about-paris-hilton.html. It was quite obvious she wanted to use her feminine wiles to gain her notoriety in the electronic world. But it takes a certain amount of skill/knowledge to be successful and no image can change that. Influence it maybe, but if you can't beatmatch or even put together a decent pre-recorded set for entertainment value, then looking pretty won't save you from a crowd of boos.

I wrote about this earlier back in April http://jackhadagroove.blogspot.ca/2012/04/i-am-female-and-i-like-house-music.html but I found it interesting when last month these two separate articles emerged:
http://www.heyreverb.com/blog/2012/08/16/sexism-female-djs-edm/54394/
Its an interesting article, with most of the participants stating that sexism does exist in the industry.

The Australian Pulse Radio took the opportunity to praise some of the female DJing elite in this article and get quotables.
http://pulseradio.net/articles/2012/08/that-s-what-she-said-female-djs-speak-up

In the article, Nina Kraviz complains about sexism. But then she recently posed nude for a Hugo Boss fahsion (or lack thereof!) campaign, with a title that read "sounds good looks good." She can definitely do what she wants but how do you rid of sexism in a male dominated industry by posing like that?  http://www.hugoboss.com/de/en/blog/sounds-good-looks-good/?fb_action_ids=3245065584799&fb_action_types=og.likes&fb_source=timeline_og&action_object_map=%7B%223245065584799%22%3A146652928809828%7D&action_type_map=%7B%223245065584799%22%3A%22og.likes%22%7D&action_ref_map
I've never seen a male DJ naked in one of his promotional shots. Even DJ Tiesto has joined the fashion brigade of DJs, but he's not showing skin! http://www.guess.com/tiesto/

Maybe its unavoidable as a female, I dunno. I think you can be sexy and tasteful, but it won't change the quality of your music productions or music selections. But I think its an interesting topic, so I wanted to share the articles with you!

Bart B More - The Box/Glow EP

Dutchman Bart B More has a new EP coming out on his own label Secure Recordings. I am such a fan of the talented Bart van der Meer, but it does pain me that he also frequently collaborates with curmudgeon Tommie Sunshine (you can see his rants on his Twitter) along with Riptide to form the trio "Horsepower." Anyway, this electro EP is due October 1st, 2012, and sounds like it will literally bang up the place!

Buzz Buzz Bzzz: T. Williams - Can't Get Enough feat. Himal

Up and comer Tesfa Williams is creating a nice buzz. He's been making some smooth house tracks and recently released his Pain & Love EP on PMR Records.
PMR is the same label that houses UK darling Jessie Ware. Williams remixed "Wildest Moments" a few months back with equally awesome results:
He is definitely on the one to watch list!

Pete Tong feat S.Y.F. - Dawn

Ok I'm a little late with this one but I felt the need to mention it because I finally figured out who S.Y.F. was! Its "Starving Yet Full" whose real name is Cedric Gasaida from Azari & III. Makes total sense, as Pete is such a big fan of the group! Its out on Defected (I think every time there is a Defected release mentioned on my blog, I'm going to need to say somewhere "you're connected to Defected").
Hot Since 82 (Daley Padley) has been creating a nice little buzz around himself lately, and with good reason. He's been doing it by making great remixes like this one, and Russ Chimes' Back 2 You. He's also released "Knee Deep in Louise" off of Jaymo & Andy George's Moda Black label. He's definitely one to watch!

Update 08/11/12: Here is the full remix package from Defected for Dawn:

DJ Zinc & A-Trak feat Natalie Storm - Like the Dancefloor (Shadow Child Remix)

Benjamin Pettit (DJ Zinc) and Alain Macklovitch (DJ A-Trak) teamed up earlier this year to give you the track Stingray. Something about the horn reminded me of an old trance track that I just can't put my finger on...but I digress. The track was remixed by Benga too. They have since revamped the track and added the vocals of dancehall gyal Natalie Storm, and have called the track "Like the Dancefloor."

I was not totally on board with the change until I heard Simon Neale's aka Shadow Child's take on the track. Can you say banger?! Slowing the track down the way he does matches Natalie's vocals much better, and the addition of that UK bass is just what the doctor ordered!
Update 14/10/12: Here is the video for the track:

Update 23/10/12: Check out this remix by Dismantle which screams fire!

Rampa feat Meggy - Everything

Once again, I'm connected to Defected!
The very handsome Rampa (oh come on, he is! I said this blog before that it was written by a female!) of Keinemusik has contributed to the Defected label with a track that is graced with Meggy's vocals (she's a German DJ too).
Not sure what happens in the Argy remix, where the vocals are suddenly sung by a male. I actually prefer this version the most! Rampa adds his own remix and Mark Fanciulli rounds up the remix list.

Rampa teamed up with Re.You earlier in the month to give another track, also featuring Meggy.

Tensnake feat Syron - Mainline

Absolutely loving this new one coming out of the Defected camp. A true 90s throwback with a modern update comes from Germany's Marco Niemerski, aka Tensnake. Best known in my opinion for his track "Coma Cat"the producer teams up with the UK's young rising star Syron to give you "Mainline"

Update 08/10/12: An awesome new dub version has also been made

Update 26/10/12: An astute YouTube user pointed out that the track samples Black Ivory's "Mainline" which was also sampled by The Jason Load Experience feat. Iyona with their track "Mainline 90s." This one closely resembles Tensnake's version. Check out the video for the track released by Defected:

Max Vangeli & AN21 - People of the Night

The long awaited album from Max Vangeli and AN21 has finally been released. Lots of mixed reviews coming out, but I think these guys deserve more credit. Its easy to attribute their exposure to the fact that AN21 is Steve Angello's brother, but that really detracts from the fact these guys make pretty good productions. I absolutely love Max & AN21's remix of Ellie Goulding's Starry Eyed and Prodigy's Smack My Bitch Up.

The album is chalked full of collaborations. On the title track, they join hands with Tiesto.

Congorock most famously was introduced to the clan with his remix of SHM's One. He collaborated with the duo for Lost:
So when I first heard this track, I really didn't understand the title. Why bombs over capitals? Is this about war? I don't think so...anyway, the boys enlist the amazing vocals of Julie McKnight for this one. She was once married to Soul/R&B artist Brian McKnight, and has appeared on such tracks as Finally, Diamond Life, and David Guetta's "How Soon is Now." She is amazing, and does the track justice.  This track was released earlier this year, and features a collaboration with their label boss Steve Angello  http://jackhadagroove.blogspot.ca/2012/05/an21-max-vangeli-vs-steve-angello-h8ers.html
For Nightfall, they are joined by UK producer Michael Woods.
The track "Fresh Start" seems to be missing from their SoundCloud, and the track Whisper is posted twice. I think it was just an oversight.
I really like this one. Its probably my favorite from the album. Its not a big room anthem, but more of a night closer. They previewed the track more than a year ago, and have since made some adjustments. I will admit I liked the original better but its still an awesome, haunting track. Features the vocals of MC/rapper/lyricist Example.
Moguai's big burst onto the scene was with his Fatboy Slim Remix of "Push the Tempo." He contributes to the synth heavy "Brunette"
Kim Fai is no stranger to SIZE, having released Era/Supernova on the label. He joins the boys on "Story"
This one features Rudy Sandapa, the Australian vocalist who also goes by the moniker Ruben Haze and frequently collaborates with fellow Aussie Dirty South. His most notable tracks are In the Air (TV Rock), Open Your Heart, Let it Go, We Are, and most recently, on Henrik B's Leave a Light On http://jackhadagroove.blogspot.ca/2012/04/henrik-b-leave-light-on.html. He lends his vocals to "This Far"
The album was released on SIZE records on September 4th, 2012.

John Digweed & Nick Muir - Raise

Gone are the days of Hacienda, Twilo, Renaissance but the music can definitely live on. John Digweed teams up with Nick Muir to release "Raise" off of his own label, Bedrock. This is the music that I call progressive house. A lot of electro house tracks get labelled progressive and I really think its only because it sounds cool.
Anyway, included on the release are a Purple and Blue remix by Electric Rescue. Sit back and transport yourself back to the 90s...

The 2 Bears - 2 Bears, 1 Love

I really love the 2 Bears http://jackhadagroove.blogspot.ca/2012/06/disclosure-control-joe-goddard-remix.html, and I really love Defected Records, so this is like a match made in heaven for me. A choice selection of house tracks from 2 guys who know how to make choice house themselves. I have a special place in my heart for that Iz & Diz track.

Amir Alexander - Everybody's Beautiful EP

Ah yes, its yet another awesome Hypercolour release! Chicago's Amir Alexander is the latest to contribute. The Acid mix of the title track is the one for me.

Topher Jones - Brohammer (Nari & Milani Remix)

I'm really rooting for Nari & Milani. I saw an interview that Steve Angello's SIZE did with them and they just seem like good guys from Italy who have been in the business a long time and were exposed to a new audience when Angello's label picked up Kendo and Atom http://jackhadagroove.blogspot.ca/2012/04/nari-milani-atom.html. They were so apologetic for their broken English in their interview, and were really happy-go-lucky guys, I am definitely a new fan! Their remix of Brohammer is in the same vein as Atom, with extremely hard hitting beats.
I guess "Bro" and "hammer" make this the perfect song title for the track!

Argy - Love & Dance

The Greek producer's latest effort "Love & Dance" is forthcoming on Noir's esteemed compilation Second Chances and New Romances, on its 5th edition. If you can remember Argy's remix of Osunlade's Envision http://jackhadagroove.blogspot.ca/2012/04/osunlade-envision.html, then you know that the guy has some tricks up his sleeve. One of those "tricks" seems to be sampling Gilette's Short Dick Man and infusing it into bonafide house tracks. You can hear the repetitive "don't want don't want don't want" in the background.

DJ PP - La Luna

So I found this track after scanning the Beatport Top 100. What I want to know is, what would compell someone to call themselves DJ PP? I mean, really! Nevertheless, Uruguay's Gabriel Rocha has a pretty good Tech House track on his hands, and its available on Mark Knight's Toolroom Records.

Jonas Rathsman - W4W

Sweden's Jonas Rathsman is best known for his track "Tobago" that was released in late 2011.

The label he released the track on, FRENCH EXPRESS, is sponsoring Rathsman again and giving away for free his new track W4W.  W4W is short for Women 4 Weapons. I really don't understand why they would do that. I think the track is amazing and would be profitable, but hey, who am I to complain about free music?

Miguel Campbell - Rockin' Beats

I have been lamenting quite a bit about the "Hot Creations effect" meaning that a lot of more underground DJs are starting to all sound the same, but I was actually surprised by this latest EP from Miguel Campbell (of Something Special [Sexy, Wonderful] fame), especially since it actually comes from Hot Creations. While the second track is more typical in the Hot Creations sound, the title track is pretty atypical. Its more robotic and groovy. I really like it! Check out the remix from Shadow Child (Dave Spoon) as well!

Campbell has another track called Beams of Light that is also off of Hot Creations and also pretty nifty. When I fing a link I will post it here!

Update 23/10/12: Found the link for Beams of Light
And here is the video for Rockin' Beats:

Adam Port - Cabin Fever Trax

Adam Port, whose biggest release as of late for me was "Sally" http://jackhadagroove.blogspot.ca/2012/04/adam-port-sally.html contributes a 2 records to the Cabin Fever Trax on the Rekids label. Armed with a tribal meets latin flair, the tracks will keep you grooving for a while.

Also check out Port's remix of Nick Curly's track "Spinning Plates"

Groove Armada - Pull Up (West Norwood Cassette Library Remix)

The Groove Armada boys have released yet another EP with Hypercolour (this being the first: http://jackhadagroove.blogspot.ca/2012/04/groove-armada-no-knock-ep.html) and this time, the tracks are feisty!
This particular remix of the reggae-infused "Pull Up" really caught my ear. Can't seem to find a clip longer than this one but its enough for you to hear its awesomeness!

Check out the NSFW video for the original:
The track really reminds me of Basement Jaxx's "Jump and Shout." Well makes sense, since Slarta John appears on both records! Oddly enough, for a long time, I used to get Basement Jaxx and Groove Armada mixed up.

There are also remixes for the track from Alex Jones

Here is the rest of the "No Ejector Seat" EP

Pig & Dan - Let the Show Begin

Apparently Igor Tchkotoua (aka Pig) and Dan Duncan met on a plane to Spain, and the partnership lasted ever since. They've been in the production game for awhile, releasing on Cocoon and Soma. What I want to know is where do you get a nickname like Pig?! And why does it stick to the point you want to be referred as Pig?
Their latest comes off of John Digweed's Bedrock Records. Its a 2 track release with "Let the Show Begin" and "Emotions."

Another Pig & Dan release which I am really enjoying is off Coyu's Suara. The label head remixes the track, bringing it some serious dark techno vibes.

Syron - Breaking (Tom Flynn Remix)

Hot off the heels of his Dirtybird EP, Tom Flynn has remixed Syron's track "Breaking." I didn't share the EP earlier cause I feel like I post a lot about Tom Flynn, but its truly because I believe in his talent, and you should too.
Syron is an extremely talented young artist from the UK. Some of her notable tracks include providing vocals for Rudimental's "Spoons" and Solo's "Home is Where it Hurts" http://jackhadagroove.blogspot.ca/2012/05/solo-ft-syron-home-is-where-it-hurts.html. Her latest single Breaking is out on Black Butter Records (home to Rudimental).

Tom Flynn just has this ability to make tracks really special in a unique way. He's definitely caught the eye of one Pete Tong, so hopefully the Radio 1 don helps catapult Tom's career.

Krystal Klear - More Attention

With all the brouhaha that has surrounded dance music, I can't help but think of this. The old school is so loved by new producers, but sometimes it seems to the point that they are trying to emulate them, almost by copying them. I understand the idiom "to channel a sound" but as of late, it just feels like there is EDM, and then there is the underground that hates EDM, but is just trying to sound old school, which ends up all sounding the same. The new and fresh sounds of dance music seem to be few and far between. I personally find myself leaning towards more techno artists, and seeking a harder sound.
Overall, I do think that as EDM will die down, Soul/R&B will take its place. Acts like Frank Ocean, The Weeknd, and Miguel are causing pandemonium among the youth.
For Dec Lennon aka Krystal Klear, who is a Red Bull Music Academy alumni, he definitely enjoys the urban sound if his SoundCloud is any testament to his work. But his latest track featuring the vocals of Jenna G, "More Attention" seem to want to capture the MURK sound (much more than Duke Dumont's The Giver, which is what Tiga alluded to on the Turbo SoundCloud page).

I actually prefer the B-side "My Love is Burning" because I find it has its own character. Both tracks are great, don't get me wrong. I just hope that young producers try to sound different. Maybe its the generational gap, and they think people of their generation don't know the old school sound. But with the internet, its not hard to go and discover music from every generation. Its important to carve your own sound. I can put so many of these new producers in one basket, and you couldn't tell who made what because its all sounding the same (I call it the Hot Creations effect).

Timo Graf feat Dacia Bridges - Other Side (J Paul Getto Remix)

This is the weirdest remix I've ever seen. I say weird because Timo Graf is a relatively unknown German artist, but somehow Tony and Maurice of J Paul Getto http://jackhadagroove.blogspot.ca/2012/04/j-paul-getto.html got their hands on this track and made an amazing remix. I'm guessing the track is signed to Milk & Sugar, and so that's how they got a hold of it.  I don't even want to know what the original sounds like!
These guys know disco house, and know how to turn a track inside out. Strap on your dancing shoes and listen to this:

Jeremy Olander - The Rose Law/ Rorschach

Not sure what this EP is going to be called yet, but such a banger these tunes are! Frequent PR(Y)DA friends collaborator Jeremy Olander releases his latest on Mark Brown's CR2 Records.
These tunes are really reminiscent of old Sasha & Digweed for me. A time when they were residents at London's Renaissance, or brought people to their feet in NYC's Twilo. The legendary stories of Sasha in Ibiza may be folklore, but if you scour the internet for older tracks from the duo, you can believe them.
Here's a track that describes what I mean:

Blawan - His He She & She EP

After creating a buzz around his track "Why They Hide Their Bodies Under My Garage" http://jackhadagroove.blogspot.ca/2012/05/blawan-why-they-hide-their-bodies-under.html which he showcased during his Boiler Room set, a full EP including the record has hit the stands. The EP is being released on Joy Orbison and Will Bankhead's Hinge Finger label. Jamie Roberts doesn't strike me as the very social type (he doesn't have a SoundCloud!) so I couldn't get a nice link to let you hear the other tracks. You'll just have to click on this: http://hardwax.com/66447/blawan/his-he-she-and-she/

Jacques Lu Cont - In the Night

That Louis Brodinski from Reims...I just love what he does! And I appreciate the time lag between releases to ensure he is putting out quality, not quantity. His label, Bromance, puts forth its latest with a track from Stuart Price aka Jacques Lu Cont and Monsieur Monsieur. Ooh la la, c'est completement francais! Well, the Lu Cont moniker is definitely designed for Price's tracks that have a french flavour. Some hard hitting electro-disco!

Cherokee & Kartell - Atwater

Well, I wish I had a better story for how I first heard this track. Basically a local club in Montreal I follow on Facebook posted it. They said that it was written particularly for their club. Can be true, considering the track name is called "Atwater" which is a street in my hometown.  Cherokee (a duo consisting of Dorian Miche and Terence N'guyen) and Kartell are two French (from France) artists that collaborated to make said track. Both belong to the Shiny Disco Club label, which explains how they know each other.
The track is an interesting combination of a soft, lounge-style with funky disco house, all the while encapsulating a French touch sound.

F o o t p r i n t z - Fear of Numbers

Its that time again: time I talk about a Montreal artist. This time its F o o t p r i n t z, who insist on keeping spaces between the letters of their name. The duo consists of Clarian North and Adam Hunter.
Pardon me for sounding judgemental, but if you're going to name your child "Clarian," you pretty much guarantee the kid is going to grow up to be a hipster.
They has been releasing on Visionquest, which is run by Seth Troxler, Ryan Crosson, Lee Curtiss and Shaun Reeves. Their track, Fear of Numbers, is extremely reminiscent of 80s new-wave, complete with synths and ethereal vocals. Think New Order, Depeche Mode. Despite not really being a fan of hispters (I worked with a bunch at a music store years ago, and they left a bad taste in my mouth), I really enjoy this record a lot, and am pretty proud to say I'm from the same city as them.

BURNS - Lies (Tiga Remix)

With Calvin Harris' career taking off to unbelievable heights http://jackhadagroove.blogspot.ca/2012/04/superstar-djs-here-we-go-calvin-harris.html, he has taken producer BURNS under his wing. Not sure how that came about, but BURNS is a great producer in his own right, and Harris' probably identified that. Matt Burns did after all release "Iced Out" on Calvin Harris' label, Fly Eye Records. Rumour has it he will be producing for Rihanna's next album. He's also joining Harris to support his tour.
I first noticed BURNS with this amazing track called Heartbeats:

Other notable tracks from him are "So Many Nights" and his collaboration with Fred Falke called "You Stopped Loving Me."

His latest is called "Lies" and contains lyrics which I initially thought were sung by Amanda Wilson on the Freemason's track "Watchin."
You may recognize Amanda Wilson's voice as that from Avicii's "Seek Bromance", or Chrizzo & Maxim's dance-pop hit "Runaway." Instead, the vocal's roots come from Canadian vocalist Deborah Cox's track "Its Over Now." Side note: Deborah Cox is the vocalist on my favorite SHM + LBL track "Leave the World Behind"
So after releasing Lies, the remixes are now available. The best one I heard comes from Turbo Recordings label boss Tiga. Other remixes are from Otto Knows, Skream and Acrobat.

Disclosure - Latch

Guy and Howard Lawrence are back with a new track after the release of their Greco-Roman EP entitled The Face. This track is in the style of Jessie Ware (this time male version), who the young brothers remixed last year. With a smooth vocal from Sam Smith, who also hails from the UK (he's the one featured in the artwork), the track is slated for their upcoming album.

Update 09/10/12: Latch is definitely a song about love as evidenced in the video for the track

Update 22/10/12: Such an amazing remix from T Williams has also emerged

Kevin Saunderson 'The Sound' (Jay Lumen Sacred Sounds Remix)

Reese & Santonio's track "The Sound" is getting the remix treatment from Hungary's Jay Lumen http://jackhadagroove.blogspot.ca/2012/06/jay-lumen-gary-beck-lotus-ep.html, which will be released on Mark Knight's Toolroom label.

Detroit techno king Kevin Saunderson collaborated with Santonio Echols back in 1987 under the name Reese & Santonio.  Saunderson's middle name is Maurice, which became part of one of his aliases: Reese. Hence, his label, KMS, is basically his initials! Check out the original here:
Interesting cause the original was heavily sampled in one of my favorite Todd Terry tracks "Back to the Beat"
To have lived in those times...best music ever!

Candi Staton - Hallelujah Anyway (Larse Remix)

This one has been out for awhile, but definitely deserves a mention. Candi Staton is 72 years old, but her voice is clearly ageless. Known for her gospel and soul records, she is best known in the dance community for her track with The Source entitled "You Got the Love." Florence & the Machine covered the track, and in my opinion, was the catalyst to their success. The track was mashed up with Jamie Principle's "Your Love" and blew the track out of the water:
Well, Ms. Staton is back, and with another uplifting track. With vocals that say:

You have some problems, you need God to solve them, you get down on your knees and pray
When is he coming through, when will he answer you, well it may not be right away
But in the meantime just keep your mind in a positive attitude
And while you're waiting, start praising, he's going to see you through
Here's what you got to do
Praise him til your blessings come down
Praise him til your situation turns around
You've got to lift up your voice and say Hallelujah Anyway, Hallelujah Anyway

So much is going on, what's taking God so long, your back is up against the wall
Pressure on every side, so many nights you've cried, you wonder if he heard your call
You've got to trust him, be patient, he's working behind the scenes
Just keep rejoicing, start dancing, hes giving you the victory
Show him that you believe

Praise him til your blessings come down
Praise him til your situation turns around
You've got to lift up your voice and say Hallelujah Anyway, Hallelujah Anyway

You see him working it out (for you)

So motivational!
House music founding father Frankie Knuckles remixed the track under his Director's Cut moniker:
But for me, its all about the Larse remix. Noir label regular DJ Larse who hails from Germany and whose real name is Lars Brodherr brings forth a melodic smooth remix of the track. And it just feels so powerful, without having to be upbeat. How cool would it be to see this being sang in churches? Ah, the power of Gospel music.

Crookers - Bowser

One of my favorite Italian producers are back with their latest on Nick Catchdub + A-Trak's Fools Gold label with an EP entitled Bowser. After their latest album Dr. Gonzo, they've released some remixes, and EPs. Phra and Bot are well known for their cooky style that somehow just always works, and this EP is no different.  I have to wonder if "Trillex" is some kind of reference to Skrillex (you know, bleeps and all). My favorite cut is the title track.

Klangkarussell - Sonnentanz

I can't tell whether I like this or not. Is it department store music, or is it actually way forward? A little uncomfortable with the fact that the video is coming from Kontor. Anyway, the Austrian duo Tobias Reiser and Adrian Held have upon them a chill house track that will definitely get them onto more Cafe del Mar style compilations...ha!
